Annual Lecture

The RDSF Annual Lecture was initiated in August 2018 to provide a platform to harness expert opinions from relevant stakeholders on modalities and strategies for improving the quality of education in Nigeria. The objective is to contribute significantly to the improvement of access to quality public education in Nigeria, with feedback to relevant stakeholders.
The maiden edition of the Lecture Series held was titled “Public Education in the 21st Century: A Reappraisal of the Nigerian Education System since Independence”. The erudite and respected Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede was the guest speaker while the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Architect Sunday Echono was the special guest of honour. The Chairman of the event was the Elder statesman, Retired Admiral Ndubisi Kanu. The report produced from that lecture has since been circulated to over 400 organizations directly involved in the management of education in Nigeria.
The theme of the second edition of the Lecture Series recently held in August 2019 was "Eradicating the Menace of Drug Abuse Among Youths in Nigeria: The Role of Educators". This topic was chosen in view of the growing problem of drug abuse in Nigeria and its impact on education.
The guest speaker was Professor JD Adeyemi, Dean Faculty of Clinical Sciences, University of Lagos, while the special guest of honour was Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi OFR Mni, former Federal Minister of Health and Social Services & Founder, Juli Pharmacy. The Chairman of the event was Brig. Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa, Chairman Presidential Advisory Committee for Elimination of Drug Abuse.
